• My roots

I was born in Veracruz, Mexico, and lost my father when I was just four years old. From that point on, I was raised by my strong and resilient mother, who faced the challenges of single parenthood with unwavering determination. As a child, I worked selling fish in the local market to help support our family, though our economic situation remained difficult. I experienced firsthand what it means to live with limited resources and to make tough choices every day. When I was nine, we moved to Wilson, North Carolina, in search of a better life. I’m one of five siblings, with three sisters and one brother.

  • My new home

I came to Wilson in 2000 and began fifth grade at Sallie B. Howard School. I later attended Beddingfield High School, graduating as Salutatorian of the Class of 2009. After graduation, I entered the workforce and built a career in the tree care industry, gaining over 12 years of hands-on experience and professional growth as a Certified Arborist. Through this work, I’ve come to deeply appreciate the vital role trees play in improving our environment, supporting public health, and enhancing the beauty and resilience of our communities.

  • My next chapter

Like many others, the pandemic brought me back to Wilson and gave me time to reflect on what truly matters. I realized it was time for a change. I’m currently a student at Wilson Community College, with plans to transfer to a four-year university to earn a Bachelor’s degree in Accounting. I’m running for City Council because I believe my lived experience—rooted in this community—can offer a valuable and needed perspective to help move Wilson forward. I’ve seen both the challenges and the potential our city holds, and I want to be part of shaping a future that’s more inclusive, responsive, and equitable for everyone.

Why me?

The real question is

Why not?!
